The Ingenio Foundation reported yesterday that it sent letters to the riverside municipalities of the Mar Menor “due to the poor treatment of rainwater”, as a result of the sampling carried out by said entity, “which shows urban discharges at the outlet of the Torre Pacheco treatment plant with levels of E. coli, phosphates and ammonium above the permitted values”. Esamur’s technical director, Pedro Simón, refuted Fundación Ingenio’s approach that the mortality of fish in the Mar Menor is due to the discharge of untreated water, as published by LA VERDAD. He also regretted that this organization discredits the work of the region’s purification system, using “half-truths.”
Fundación Ingenio expressed its concern that there are no separate networks for wastewater and rainwater, a weak point that is pending solution.
