It is highly likely that charters to Egyptian resorts will be allowed by the end of August, Yuri Barzykin, vice president of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST), told Izvestia.
He recalled that the PCT had previously asked Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to speed up their launch.
“The commission (of Rospotrebnadzor and Rostourism) has finished its work, the reviews are positive – therefore, practically nothing prevents the opening of charters to Egypt. This is the next stage, not an increase in the number of regular flights from Russia. And the situation here will no longer depend on COVID-19, but on the demand and readiness of airlines and tour operators to generate a flow to Egypt. After all, August is a hot month, and most tourists will prefer trips in September-October-November, ”he said.
The step between the decisions of the headquarters is, as a rule, two weeks, a source in the tourist market told Izvestia. The latest decisions were made on 23 July. According to the interlocutor, the headquarters on an ongoing basis, twice a month, adjusts quotas for most open countries, both in terms of the number of flights and points of arrival.
In addition to increasing quotas from Moscow to Egyptian resorts, the headquarters can also allow a regional quota, as was the case with Cairo – two flights a week from international airports in Russia, the source said. This time, the main bias should be made on departures from the subjects, agrees the interlocutor of Izvestia, close to one major tour operator.
