Russia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund has tied up with India to deliver 100 million doses of corona virus vaccine ‘Sputnik-V’. The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has tied up with giant giant Dr. Reddy’s Lab for supplies in India. RDIF CEO Kirill Dimitriv has said that Sputnik-V will work closely with Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories for clinical trials and delivery of the vaccine. He said, “We are negotiating with Indian regulators to ensure that all the necessary conditions for the clinical trial of Sputnik-V vaccine are met.”
Sputnik-V may be supplied by the end of this year. Dr. Reddy’s CEO GV Prasad has said that the results of the first and second phase of Sputnik-V have been encouraging. There will be a third phase trial in India to meet the standards of Indian regulators. He said that Sputnik-V vaccine can be a reliable option in the fight against Corona virus in India.
Let us know that this deal has come at a time when the number of cases of corona virus in India has crossed 50 lakhs. Last week, NITI Aayog member VK Paul had said that the central government is in favor of testing the Sputnik-V vaccine in India and two-three companies are in talks to produce it in the country.
However, the price of the vaccine has not been disclosed yet. The RDIF said in a statement that we are not thinking about profits. Our focus is only on cost. Apart from the Russian company India has agreements with Brazil, Mexico, Kazakhstan. This vaccine has been created by scientists of Gamalaya Research Institute in Moscow and the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
