At least 33 Indian election officials have died in the final voting days of the election due to heatstroke in the state of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, the state’s election director says Navdeep Rinwa.

“The families of the deceased will be paid 1.5 million rupees (about 16,580 euros) as compensation,” Rinwa said, according to the news agency.
