Coronavirus pandemic already affects the celebration of Independence Day, and Finland, 104, is celebrated with limited spending.

The celebration of Independence Day began with a nationwide flag-raising on Tähtitorninmäki in Helsinki at nine in the morning. At the same time, the president Sauli Niinistö began the celebrations of Independence Day by laying a wreath on the Heroic Cross of Hietaniemi.

During the day, the student unions organize Independence Day processions in different parts of Finland.
