Defense Forces has canceled the Independence Day National Parade. The parade planned to be held in Lahti with its side events was quickly canceled due to the aggravated corona epidemic.

A national parade of the Defense Forces would have brought about 1,500 people to Lahti. A thousand of them would have taken part in the actual bypass on Vapaudenkatu.

Independence Day The nationwide flag-raising will return to Tähtitorninmäki in Helsinki. In honor of independence, the Finnish flag will once again rise to the flagship at Tähtitorninmäki on December 6 at 9 am.

Last year, due to corona restrictions, the ticket purchase was held exceptionally in Hämeenlinna.

This year, the Speaker of Parliament will give the flag address for Independence Day Anu Vehviläinen (middle).

“By canceling the parade, the Defense Forces wants to protect the health safety of conscripts, personnel, the public and all partners participating in the parade and contribute to preventing the spread of the virus,” the Defense Forces explained in a press release.
