The Ministry of Health reports 15,489 cases and 146 deaths during the weekend; 69.1% of the population already has the complete guideline
The statistics of the pandemic have given this Monday a respite that, if confirmed in the coming days, could mean the beginning of the definitive end of the fifth wave. The data that exemplified this general fall in the indicators was the accumulated incidence, which decreased by 22 cases compared to Friday and stood at 242.18 (high risk), for the first time in almost two months below the 250 that mark the extreme risk limit.
The report of the Ministry of Health showed better data in all markers. Carolina Darias’ department registered 15,489 infections between Saturday and Sunday, the lowest figure for a weekend since the beginning of July. Something similar happened with the deceased: in the last two days, 146 deaths were counted, which are still a very high number, but they are 55 less than the previous weekend. Since March last year, 4,847,298 people have been infected and 84,146 have died from covid-19 in Spain, according to the official accounting of the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, the hospital pressure eased slightly. Due to coronavirus, 7,114 people were admitted this Monday (7,206 on Friday), of which 1,652 were in ICUs (1,685). Covid patients represent 6.07% of total bed occupancy (6.15%) and 18.04% of ICUs (18.37%).
69.1% of Spaniards (32,811,664) have already received the complete vaccination schedule, according to the latest update of the Ministry of Health, published this Monday and which adds the punctures of the weekend. In the absence of counting the injections on Monday and Tuesday, the country is very close to reaching the goal of vaccinating 70% of the population with the full schedule before the end of August. Furthermore, 76.6% of Spaniards have already been inoculated with at least one dose. Among those over 40 years of age, 91.9% already have all the doses while between 30 and 39 they are 66.6%; 56.4% between 20 and 29 and 25.6% between 12 and 19.
