Artist Oleksiy Danilko, known in the image of Verka Serdyuchka, could run for the presidency of Ukraine in 2019 and thereby prevent Volodymyr Zelensky from becoming the country’s leader. This was announced on Sunday, December 26, by the Journalist Alesya Batsma.
She stressed that Danilko could also seriously compete with other candidates.
“Andriy Danilko could have been one of those who completely turned the political landscape then, if he went to the presidency,” Batsman said.
According to her, “a lot of people from different parties” were ready to provide the artist with financial assistance, if he nevertheless put forward his candidacy.
The journalist clarified that Danilko, unlike Zelensky, wished to “save himself,” so he did not participate in the elections.
Before the elections of the Ukrainian president in 2019, the artist Andriy Danilko, in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda in Ukraine, admitted his candidacy. He said that he sees nothing wrong with getting involved in politics, since rock musician Svyatoslav Vakarchuk and showman Vladimir Zelensky are already being promoted to candidates for the upcoming elections.
Zelensky took office as president of Ukraine on May 20, 2019. In the first round of elections, he received the largest number of votes (30.24%) among all candidates, in the second round of elections he won, gaining 73.22%.
