Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Derkach, who published audio recordings of alleged conversations between the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the current US President Joe Biden, who served as Vice President, revealed the origin of the recordings and told how they came to his disposal. Writes about this “Strana.ua”.
According to Derkach, the former head of state himself recorded his conversations with high-ranking officials. He added that the films that came to him thanks to the Ukrainian investigative journalists generally contain about 5-6 hours of Poroshenko’s conversations, of which only 45 minutes were published – the records concerning the sovereignty, events in the Donbass and relations with the country’s European partners remained unpublished. He noted that the recent sanctions by the US Treasury Department only prove that the records are genuine.
“There are a lot of films. Biden just in a nightmare could not imagine that Poroshenko would write it to the Administration for his personal archive. Such things are simply not done from the point of view of the culture of statehood. But Pyotr Alekseevich acted in his own style, ”he said.
Commenting on the question of why the journalists did not leave such an exclusive for themselves, the deputy expressed the opinion that the whole point is in fear of possible consequences. At the same time, he recalled that not a single case of the murder of a media employee has been investigated in the country. “They are real people. They see sanctions, threats of reprisals and so on, ”Derkach emphasized.
Speaking about the further fate of the tapes, he noted that he handed them over for examination in the framework of the criminal process. The parliamentarian also clarified that the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine transferred the case to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). “Exactly after the vote of the electors in the United States, under the Christmas tree, on December 30, NABU tried to close this case on the basis of tapes and treason of citizen Poroshenko. We have already filed a lawsuit and will not allow this criminal proceedings to be closed, ”he assured.
Earlier, the United States imposed sanctions against Ukrainian citizens due to possible interference in the American elections. Four organizations and seven people fell under the restrictive measures, including Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky and former military prosecutor Konstantin Kulik.
According to the US Treasury, all of them are part of a network of influence associated with Russia, associated with the deputy Andrei Derkach. In May, he released audio recordings of conversations between Poroshenko and Biden, who won the presidential election in 2020.
