Electricity imports from Russia and Belarus “kill” the energy system of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada deputy Lyudmila Buimister said on the air of Channel 4, reports RIA News…
The parliamentarian called the situation in the Ukrainian energy sector disastrous. According to her, by this the authorities will explain the need for purchases from abroad. She added that Kiev failed in the procurement of coal reserves and did not provide adequate support to local mining enterprises.
“The second thing that is killing our energy system is, of course, this import of electricity from Russia and Belarus, which they are trying to justify. These imports are killing both the coal industry and the thermal generation industry, ”Buimister emphasized.
The MP said that Ukrainian generating companies receive less funding, and nuclear generation cannot work stably. According to her, the entire energy sector is managed in this way, Ukraine is systematically led to dependence on imports, which “can end very badly.”
Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian National Commission (NEURC) decided not to extend the ban on the purchase of electricity from countries that are not members of the Energy Community, that is, from Russia and Belarus, until November. This decision was made due to low coal reserves and the threat of a power shortage.
