The United States called the Russian tests of anti-satellite weapons “reckless”. State Department spokesman Ned Price said space debris caused by the destruction of the satellite threatens the safety of the International Space Station (ISS). TASS…
Price stressed that Russia’s behavior threatens the long-term sustainability of outer space. The State Department spokesman also accused Moscow of insincerity in relation to statements about opposing the placement of weapons in space. He said the United States will work with partners and allies to prepare a response to these actions.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the agency was concerned about the tests conducted by Russia. He also added that Moscow did not inform Washington about them. The representative expressed the hope that the world’s space powers would respect international rules for the use of outer space.
Earlier, the Mission Control Center reported that the ISS could come close to space debris. The instruction assumes the presence of the crew on the ship during the approach of the station with a potentially dangerous object.
During the negotiations of the station’s crew with the Earth, they noted that space debris flew past the ISS, the cosmonauts and astronauts were able to return to their places, but it was noted that after an hour and a half the debris could again disturb the station.
British Defense Minister Ben Wallace also said that Russia neglected the safety of outer space, having tested anti-satellite weapons, thereby creating a threat to satellites and spacecraft. His statement was published in Twitter military department.

According to them, the hatches between the main modules should be left closed until such time as work is underway to track the debris caused by the destruction of the satellite.
Earlier it became known that the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin on Tuesday will discuss with representatives of NASA the problem of space debris. The meeting will take place on November 16 at 11:00 Moscow time. It is noted that the negotiations were planned to be held earlier.
Due to the space debris incident, the range of topics for discussion will expand. The American side at the meeting will be represented by Joel Montalbano, NASA Program Manager on the ISS, and NASA Assistant Director Robert Cabana.
