A candle factory in Mayfield where 110 people were working overwhelmed. State of emergency declared
Dozens of people could have died following the passage of the tornado that affected the southwestern area of Kentucky, in the USA, last night. The governor of the US state, Andy Beshear said: “We know that we probably have over 50 victims,” he announced, but the victims could even rise to 70, if not 100. The governor, who declared a state of emergency , indicated more than a dozen affected counties; and he specifically mentioned a candle factory in Mayfield where there were 110 people working. The tornado was just the latest episode of violent weather events, including heavy storms, that hit the central sector of the United States last night. At least 24 tornadoes have been recorded in five states: Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee. Authorities in Arkansas reported that at least two people were killed.
