The new films of the “Star Wars” universe will take place in the era of Disney sequels that arrived between 2015 and 2019. This was confirmed by Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, who would also be implying that the next film directed by Taika Waititi for the saga would take place at some point in the Episodes VII, VIII and IX, films starring Kylo Ren and Rey Skywalker.
With the recent premiere of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and the upcoming series announced in the Star Wars Celebration 2022the galactic franchise seems to be on the right track.

Thus, in an interview with Empire, the director of Lucasfilm hinted that the next feature films will be set in the most recent time we know of “Star Wars.”
“We are moving beyond existing sequels as we look into our cinematic space. The Age of Sequels [’Star Wars’ Episodio 7, 8 y 9] it’s what we talk about a lot in terms of where we’re going with our movies, and how far we will go from that. That is very much the space that we are concentrating on,” Kennedy revealed.

Taika Waititi: From Marvel to Star Wars
This news would also indicate that the next “Star Wars” movie, which will be directed by Taika Waititi (filmmaker in charge of “Thor: love and thunder”), would be set in that period between Episodes VII, VIII and IX.
