State Duma deputy from the Crimean region Mikhail Sheremet considered Russia’s special operation in Ukraine “saving Crimea from the Ukrainian invasion.” This is reported RIA News.
“The President of Russia, having decided to launch a special operation in Ukraine, once again saved our Crimea and Donbass from the inevitable invasion by the Ukrainian army and nationalist groups, actually working to pre-empt,” the parliamentarian said.

According to Sheremet, Ukraine’s plans include the return of control over the peninsulas, and the question was only in terms of implementation. The deputy concluded that the Crimeans are grateful to the head of state, who protects the peace and tranquility of citizens.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered an address to the nation, in which he announced the start of a special military operation in the Donbass. During the special operation, the Russian authorities “will strive for the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine,” the head of state said. The purpose of what is happening, according to him, is to protect people who are subjected to bullying and genocide.
