The infighting in the Congress has now come to the fore after a tough defeat in the by-elections in various states with the Bihar elections. Senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday said that the Congress is at the lowest position in the last 72 years. Even during the last two terms of the Congress, there is no post of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the Congress won 9 seats in the Hill Council election in Ladakh, while we were not expecting such a positive result.
Gulam Nabi Azad, while discussing the party’s conditions with news agency ANI, said that unless we change our ways of functioning at every level, things will not change. The leadership needs to give a program to the party workers and hold elections for the posts.

Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the structure of our party has collapsed. We need to rebuild our structure and then if a leader is elected in that structure then it will work. But just saying that by changing the leader we will win Bihar, UP, MP etc. is wrong. This will happen when we change the system.
Earlier, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal has questioned the working style of the party leadership. He has responded to party leaders attacking him, saying that he is raising the voice of activists. Kapil Sibal said that Rahul Gandhi had said a year and a half ago that he no longer wants to be the president of Congress. He had also said that he did not want anyone from the Gandhi family to become the president. It has been a year and a half, can a national party function without a president.
