In the middle of the Search Mothers march, they tie a policewoman to a post

The protest that seeking mothers organized this May 10 in Cancún, culminated in a clash between civilians and policeafter they suffered verbal aggression.

The events occurred when members of the collective “Mothers Searchers of Quintana Roo” carried out an activity in front of the State Attorney General’s Office. The situation became tense when an agent from the Cancun Citizen Security Secretariat burst into the cordoned off area.

The police, according to the women’s stories, responded with sarcasm and arrogance to their requests for respect, even blaming them for the disappearance of their children. The situation escalated quickly, and the agent ended up being tied to a post by the mothers and activists present.

Claims for toxicological tests

The search mothers accused the police of being drunk, stating that she herself confessed to having consumed alcohol because of Mother’s Day. They demanded her dismissal and a toxicity test, which was performed hours later amid claims of alleged intentional delays.

The general secretary of the city council arrived at the scene and indicated that An internal procedure will be opened to determine the police situation. Among the possible scenarios is his voluntary discharge, although the result of the toxicological test was negative.

The Searching mothers demand justice and that the responsibility of the police be made effective for his alleged inappropriate conduct. They demand transparency in the administrative process and that appropriate measures be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
