Can you imagine living for three years with a puppy like you mascot, and from one day to the next, you find out that it is a Wolf wild? Well, this is what happened to a German man settled in Galicia, Spain, who believed that his little dog was of the race Czech wolf.
The man had all the documentation of his pet’s pedigree, which even had an identification chip. However, his neighbors were suspicious of the animal’s species, due to its physical characteristics and behavior, so they notified the authorities, according to the Spanish newspaper. ABC.
The Nature Protection Service of that Spanish region paid a visit to Michel, the man, to collect a blood sample from the animal and carry out the necessary tests. DNA studies showed, of course, that indeed, the German’s mascot was nothing less than a Iberian wolf.
The tests were carried out in the Department of the Environment of the Criminalistics Service of the Civil Guard and “the genetic profile of the biological remains analyzed was obtained, and it was confirmed that it was a specimen of Canis lupus signatus (Iberian Wolf)”, explained the Civil Guard in a statement to the Spanish press.
However, during her stay in her owner’s house, the she-wolf crossed with a common dog, producing three cubs, which were also in the care of the man, who voluntarily handed them over to the authorities, as well as his pet, to the authorities.
Now, the four animals are in charge of the Natural Heritage Service of the Department of the Environment of the Xunta de Galicia.
