In Sochi, several hundred people will receive compensation after the flooding of houses, each victim is entitled to from 10 to 110 thousand rubles. Mayor of the city Alexey Kopaigorodsky told TASS about it.
“At the moment, more than 300 people apply for material assistance, these are people who are in the flooded zone,” said the mayor.
Kopaygorodsky clarified that 10 thousand rubles are due to a person registered in the damaged house, including children. Residents whose property was damaged will receive 50 thousand each, and those whose property was completely lost due to flooding will receive 100 thousand each.
The Mayor of Sochi added that the streets of the city will be cleared by the morning of July 7, at the moment the utilities have completed the work by 80 percent. All garbage is removed and taken away for disposal. The staff will work all night, including on the beaches. The mayor recalled that the storm warning is still in effect, swimming in the sea is prohibited.
On Sunday, July 4, in Sochi, there was a downpour with a hurricane wind, because of which the Herota River overflowed its banks, and in the Matsesta River the water level rose to a critical one. An emergency warning was issued in the city, the Ministry of Emergency Situations recommended to observe safety measures, limit access to the mountainous and wooded areas and refrain from going out to sea and reservoirs, as well as from excursions on the water and in the mountains.
