The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Transport of Russia proposed to prohibit the stopping and movement of vehicles on the so-called “islands of safety”. This follows from the draft government decree, which on October 17 is at the disposal of “RIA News”…
“Supplement with the following paragraph: (Stopping is prohibited) on the guide islands and safety islands,” the document says.
As noted by the ministries, in order to ensure visibility, concrete blocks have to be placed on the “islands of safety” – they worsen the appearance of the city and reduce traffic safety, especially at night or in winter.
“Amendments to the traffic rules in terms of excluding traffic, stopping and parking on guide islands and safety islands will improve the visibility of vehicles and ensure increased road safety at intersections and pedestrian crossings,” the decree says.
In addition, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia propose to introduce into circulation road signs for buses, designations of charging points for electric vehicles and new pedestrian road markings.
It is proposed to introduce sign 3.34 “Bus traffic is prohibited”, “taking into account the practice of restricting bus traffic in the territories of the host cities of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.” It is noted that the sign does not apply to the movement of route vehicles and school buses.
For drivers of electric vehicles, it is proposed to introduce a special plate informing about the charging points. In addition, the project provides for the introduction of new road markings to mark a diagonal pedestrian crossing.
