In February-March, the cost of services was increased by a number of Russian Internet providers, Izvestia learned. Some of the tariffs in Moscow and St. Petersburg were raised by MTS. This follows from the bills for February received by subscribers in early March. For example, access to the network for a month, which cost 599 rubles in Moscow in January 2022, already cost 660 rubles in February.
Since February 1, the prices for some archival Internet tariffs and packages with home Internet and digital TV have changed, MTS confirmed.
“The price change amounted to about 9% of the current subscription fee, that is, about 60 rubles. The prices for the tariffs available for connection have not changed. The change in the cost of services is associated with a general increase in the cost of maintaining and building networks, an increase in prices for electricity and services that we purchase from external contractors,” says Aleksey Merkutov, a company representative.
Also in February, one of the largest Moscow providers, Akado (controlled by ER-Telecom Holding), increased the cost of Internet access by 2-4%, a study of its tariff scales showed. The company confirmed the change in tariffs.
“We provided compensating discounts to loyal subscribers who use services for a long time,” said a representative of the provider.
Raise tariffs in other regions. For example, the St. Petersburg company Pin notified customers about a 10% price increase from March 1 (Izvestia has a copy of his letter). The provider is forced to compensate for the costs associated with inflation, the instability of the ruble exchange rate, rising prices for components for communication equipment, and the implementation of the requirements of the Yarovaya Law, the letter says.
The prices of other regional providers are also rising, Irina Yakimenko, an analyst at TMT Consulting, confirmed.
