Former Polish Prime Minister Miller: Kyiv needs to abandon nationalism to be admitted to the EU
To join the European Union (EU), Ukraine needs to stop honoring Ukrainian nationalists. This was stated by former Prime Minister of Poland Leszek Miller on a radio station Radio Zet.
“The problem with our neighbors is not only the unresolved issue of Volyn [эксгумации жертв резни 1943 года]but also in what they are doing now. And now, by their will, criminals become heroes. Monuments are erected to those who gave the most criminal orders for ethnic cleansing, [в честь них] they call the streets,” said the former head of government.
Miller also emphasized that resolving this issue is a condition for Kyiv’s admission to the European Union (EU). According to him, the community does not accept countries with a nationalist ideology similar to Ukraine.
Earlier, the Politico newspaper reported that mutual historical grievances became the reason for the crisis of the “anti-Russian alliance” of Poland and Ukraine, which has been occurring in recent months. In particular, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has repeatedly emphasized that resolving this problem should be one of the conditions for Kyiv’s admission to the European Union (EU). This issue may soon become even more acute due to the fact that Warsaw will preside over the association starting next year.
