Riding a fat bike, even with pedal assistance, to have fun in the snow in a new way. With the advice of the guide for those who start
A particular experience but more and more loved and requested: pedaling in the snow on a fat bike, on beaten paths through woods and along snow-covered plateaus. The game is nice, but it’s not quite like riding on dirt or asphalt, quite the opposite. First of all it is necessary to ride on beaten snow and in any case it is necessary to know how to drive the vehicle which in these conditions is rather unstable. More than ever then the choice of the itinerary it varies according to the cyclist’s athletic preparation. To broaden the horizons – and to reduce the effort – are the pedal assisted fat-bikes. In Livigno they sparkle next to each other in the rack of the brand new departure station of the Mottolino lifts, an excellent starting point for excursions. We asked Adam Quadroni, guide of BikeLivigno (www.bikelivigno.com) to reveal us some tricks to ride safely and maybe get to the start with well trained muscles. So then it just remains to have fun.
How should you train in order not to get tired during a fat bike tour?

Rather it is better to already be familiar with the medium, especially with the changes that often undermine the less prepared.
What are the main rules to follow when cycling on snow?
The first thing is to learn how to use the brakes correctly: as when driving on snow, braking must be gentle, never block all of a sudden and use both brakes. On the snow it is easy, especially on descents, to lose control of the front wheel, changes of direction must be done delicately, so it is always better to look ahead a few meters rather than concentrate on the front wheel. Also using reports is important, it must not be too hard, on the snow you should keep a “round” pedaling with a regular cadence without jerking. To minimize fatigue, the sooner you learn to use the aids of the bike the better. As for safety, first of all always wear a helmet and in case you leave the controlled paths in areas where there could be avalanches or other, be equipped with self-rescue and search systems for those buried under an avalanche. In any case, it is advisable at least for the first outings to rely on expert guides “.,
