After more than 20 years on the run, Félicien Kabuga was arrested in May 2020 near Paris. Kabuga, 87, is accused of financing, training and encouraging Hutu militias known as the Interahamwe during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsis. While his trial is taking place in The Hague, the hearings will be closely watched by the victims, who in particular hope to learn more about the planning of the genocide.
