For the past eight months in Tigray, the Ethiopian Army, backed by Eritrean soldiers and regional forces neighboring Amhara, has been fighting the Tigray People’s Liberation Front. The clashes have left thousands of dead and more than two million displaced. Meanwhile, humanitarian organizations face multiple obstacles to access remote areas of the region. As a result, thousands of civilians are at risk of famine. Our correspondents Maria Gerth-Niculescu and Marika Julien report from downtown Tigray.
