Mavericks and Kleber agree on a new million-dollar contract
Dallas The Dallas Mavericks and Maxi Kleber have agreed to a contract extension. The 30-year-old from Würzburg is apparently rewarded handsomely for this.
National basketball player Maxi Kleber has signed a new NBA contract with the Dallas Mavericks. This was announced by the Texas team on Thursday evening (local time). The Mavericks did not give any details, according to “The Athletic”, the former team of Dirk Nowitzki and Kleber agreed to another three years. Kleber is said to have earned $33 million during this time. The 30-year-old from Würzburg has been playing in Texas for five years and has averaged 7.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game during this time.
Last season he reached the final of the Western Conference with the team around star player Luka Doncic. The Mavericks then lost to eventual champions Golden State Warriors. Kleber is not one of the most prominent players in Dallas, but he has an important role in coach Jason Kidd’s team and is well established.
The Power Forward is not at the start of the European Championships that are currently taking place. Kleber justified his absence with a necessary time-out. “After two exhausting years shaped by the pandemic with only short summer breaks, I will use this summer to get a mental and physical break,” he said.
