In bed with Sartre: a clip of the film exclusively on TPI
Out at the cinema on January 26, In bed with Sartre is the new film directed by Samuel Benchetrit, starring François Damiens, Vanessa Paradis and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, and produced by I Wonder Pictures and Unipol Biografilm Collection. TPI offers a preview of a clip of this film already very popular in Cannes.
The film is an ironic and light comedy interpreted by a band of weird and clumsy characters grappling with the therapeutic power of poetry, theater and love. Their stories intertwine and collide in different ways, creating an ensemble comedy that is based on the theme of tenderness.
“Let’s say it’s an absurd and poetic comedy” declares the director, who has always been fascinated by films in which there are stories that unexpectedly intertwine with each other, “with tough boys who become tender, seized by a tenderness that surpasses them”. In bed with Sartre he talks about the importance of art, beauty and poetry as remedies against the loneliness and harshness of the contemporary world with sarcasm and delicacy.
Plot and trailer
Even the “tough” ones have a heart. Jeff knows it well, a small local boss who tries to seduce a cashier by writing her questionable and poignant love poems. Jésus and Poussin know it, very faithful to her, who between one philosophical reflection and another help the teenage daughter of the boss to approach the boy she likes so much. And Jacky knows it even more, a two-bit henchman who falls in love with an aspiring theater actress. In order to have it, he is willing to use all the weapons he has
available (literally)… even to play alongside her in a play on the sex life of Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir! Below is the official trailer of the film Sleeping with Sartre.
