“We have imprisoned, for example, citizens of Russia and citizens of Central Asia. It is important for you to understand why these people went to fight and how to prevent this in the future, ”Mohib said. He did not specify how the Russians ended up in Afghan prisons and whether they were associated with extremist groups fighting in Afghanistan.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the situation in Afghanistan is rapidly deteriorating, including in the context of the hasty withdrawal of American and other NATO troops. The Foreign Minister stressed that Russia will continue to fulfill its obligations under the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and will do everything to suppress aggression. He noted that representatives of the organization’s secretariat visited the border zone to assess the current situation.
