Pfaff Motorsports will take part in the full 2022 season of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The American team therefore confirms its presence in the series by moving to the GT Daytona PRO class with its Porsche 911 GT3-R, benefiting from the support of the German manufacturer, which will give it its official drivers.
At the wheel of the car nicknamed “Plaid” due to the particular livery that is very reminiscent of a winter wool blanket, we will see Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet again as last year, while Felipe Nasr, newly hired at Weissach for the LMDh project.
“I am really excited to race with this team again, but this time for a full season – said Campbell – After winning the championship there is proof that we will be one of those to deal with in 2022”.
“It will be easier since I already know most of this group of people. With Mathieu we have been racing together for two years now in most of the championships we compete in; we like the same things in the car and have the same impressions, so I expect that our collaboration can grow further with the team “.
Jaminet added: “I am really happy to join Pfaff for the GTD Pro. It was my priority to race full time in the US in 2022; doing it with the reigning GTD champions is a privilege. The team has shown great performance in this season and I can’t wait to start “.
“Matt and I know each other very well and we have already achieved some good successes. This should help us to be fast right away. We can give the same indications to the team, knowing them will help me integrate faster with everyone.”
“For 2022 our goal is clear; we have all the ingredients to be ahead, so it’s to try and win the championship. Of course we always think about big races, so Daytona and Sebring are at the top of my list. Let’s see what it has in store for us. the year”.
Nasr is also satisfied, making his debut in this category: “I’m really excited to join the Porsche family and the Pfaff team ahead of the 2022 season. I always like to race in Daytona and have the chance to win the 24h; this time it will be an absolute first for me, in the GTD Pro class. We hope it’s a smooth transition and a quick learning process with the help of my experienced teammates, Matt and Mathieu. “
“Prototypes have a special place in my heart, having won two IMSA championships. Adapting to the driving style of a GT3 car will be the main thing, such as cornering speeds and braking points. I can’t wait to start driving. work with everyone in the team and get the most out of it. As a driver I am always ready for new challenges “.
