Mexico City.- The digital avatars that Meta first implemented on Facebook and Messenger today arrived on WhatsApp, which can be used both to modify the profile picture and to send them as stickers.
“We are bringing avatars to WhatsApp! Now you can use your avatar as a sticker in chats. More styles will be coming soon in all our applications,” said Mark Zuckerberg, owner of Meta.
Just like the versions on Facebook, this character, which is meant to be a digital version of the user, can be customized to the person’s taste with a variety of different hairstyles, facial features, and outfits.
In the case of stickers, there will be 36 available by default that reflect various actions and emotions that can be shared in messages and in stories within the platform.
“Sending avatars to friends and family is a quick and fun way to share what you’re feeling. They’re also great for preserving your privacy, as they represent you without you having to include your photo,” Meta said in a statement.
The company announced that soon they will include style updates such as lighting, shadows and hairstyle textures to have more customization options.
In recent months, Meta has made a series of changes within its applications, such as boosting reels, short videos within its platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to compete against TikTok.
In addition, the change that Facebook made to add a section within the platform’s feed intended to show more content suggested by the algorithms.
Now WhatsApp adds these digital twins so that people can have a more personalized experience.
