The hospitality sector has been in the spotlight for a long time due to the working conditions that its workers have to face. On several occasions, through social networks, circumstances of abuse have been shared both by clients and by the establishment’s own managers. Be that as it may, it is a sector that needs experienced workers, and this is something that the hoteliers themselves demand. However, age can often be something for which hoteliers discriminate against candidates seeking to work in their company.
This is what the influencer Jesús Soriano, known on social networks as @soycamarero, has demanded in his X profile. In a publication he showed a simple screenshot that made it clear what the hotelier was looking for.. The conversation begins with a woman introducing herself and explaining that she would be willing to take a test to be a candidate for the position that had been vacant at the bar.
The manager greets her and asks her age, to which she responds that: “I’m 40 and I’ve been in the hospitality industry since I was 17.” The response was immediate: “I’m looking for a young girl. Thank you,” he said, arousing the indignation of all Soy Camarero followers.
It didn’t take long for the comments to become as devastating as: “Young people are exploited and the “older” ones are not hired, but here no one does anything to change the situation. Then there is talk of pensions and increasing the retirement age.” , one blurts out. “Looking for a young girl of 18. Who has experience working since she was 13.” “Too much experience to let yourself be exploited.”
