Ilse Openneer is the new editor-in-chief of RTL News. The 47-year-old succeeds Harm Taselaar (65), who has officially stepped down today and has his last day on the editorial board.
Openneer calls it “an honor to become editor-in-chief of this fantastic news organization.” Since April 2018, she has been working as deputy editor-in-chief at RTL News.
Taselaar had been editor-in-chief since 1999. In May this year he already announced that this would change within a year. ,,I’m going to the end now. Because of my age, but also mentally and physically, I think it is time for someone else to sit here,” he told BNR Nieuwsradio.
“It is wonderful that after all these years I can walk out the door cheerfully, knowing that the new editor-in-chief is called Ilse Openneer. Ilse is great,” he said in a statement today about his departure. “In addition to being an exceptionally pleasant and reliable person, she is also competent and decisive. Fully equipped for her task. RTL Nieuws can squeeze its hands with her as the new helmsman.”
