He Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) endorsed on Sunday an agreement that will allow Morena and its allies have 43 deputies premises, remaining one away from reaching a qualified majority in the capital’s Congress.
This decision was made in the context of the allocation of Provincial Councils by the principle of Proportional Representation (PR) for the Ordinary Local Electoral Process 2023-2024.

In yesterday’s session, the draft agreement was generally approved unanimously. However, a modification was presented after receiving seven letters from deputies elected by a relative majority, who requested that their right to choose the parliamentary group they would join be respected.
As a result of the modification, a new allocation of proportional representation deputations was determined.
According to the results of the vote, certificates of proportional representation will be issued to the political parties as follows:

Furthermore, in accordance with the victories of the relative majority deputies obtained by each political party, and to guarantee gender parity in its integration, the Congress of Mexico City will be formed as follows:
In addition, the General Council of the IECM declared the validity of the total count of the election of the Migrant Deputation to the Congress of Mexico City.
Certificates of majority were issued to Raúl de Jesús Torres Guerrero and Shirley Vianney Rangel López, owner and substitute respectively, nominated by the “VA X LA CDMX” coalition (PAN, PRI and PRD), who obtained the highest number of votes in said election. .
Voter Participation from Abroad
On the recent election day, nearly 185,000 votes were cast by Mexicans abroad. Of these, approximately 46,000 votes were for the local election of Head of Government and Migrant Council of Mexico City, reflecting the significant participation of the capital’s diaspora in the electoral processes of their city of origin.
