The Junta, VPM, Juan Marín, has expressed his concern that there are still 358,000 people in Andalucía between the ages of 40 and 69 without vaccinations.
Even more worrying is that between 15 and 17% of those in the ICU had already received both jabs prior to catching Covid-19.
Juan Marín emphasized that the health situation in Andalucía is preoccupying because of the sharp increase in cases, even though this augmentation is not translating into and equal increase in hospital cases.
He gave details on ICU occupation, stating that it was around six percent and put hospital-bed occupation from Covid around 3.5%. He said that the age group between 40 and 69 is causing concerning because those that have received no vaccination at all in that group represent about 10% of the population in that age bracket.
Another telling detail is that 63% of those in ICUs are people who have not been vaccinated, either because they don’t want to be or in a few cases, they haven’t had the opportunity to obtain one due to their personal circumstances.
As mentioned above, between 15 and 17% of people in the ICUs had already received the required double-dose; ie, both jabs, but had fallen ill with Covid anyway, and that between 13 and 14% had only received one jab.
