Last season, Grier worked for the New York Rangers as a hockey operations advisor. Between 2018 and 2020, he served as an assistant coach for the New Jersey Devils and before that as a player scout for the Chicago Blackhawks.
During his NHL career, Grier also played in Edmonton, Washington and Buffalo. His older brother Chris Grier is the GM of the Miami Dolphins, who play in the American football NFL league.
