On Tuesday, Kärpät beat Pori Ässät.
Oulu
Flies striker acquisition Peter Tiivola was familiarly effective when the Oulu team defeated Ässät 2–0 in the men’s hockey league on Tuesday. Tiivola passed Kasper Björkqvist 1–0 winning goal in the opening set.
“It wasn’t our best game and we know we can improve a lot. Maybe we gave up the puck a little too easily, but Ässät played well”, Tiivola praised his former club.
Goalkeeper Leevi Meriläinen became the hero of the home team, who played the second consecutive clean sheet in Kärppie’s home matches.
Tiivola has scored 3+7 power points this season, every single one of which has come in a home game.
“I hadn’t noticed that myself, and it’s probably a coincidence, because there have been places for guests as well. The weekend is a good place in Hämeenlinna to correct that statistic.”
Kärpät plays as a guest of HPK on both Friday and Saturday.
Ässät already played the fifth game in a row, where one of the teams has remained zero. In the third set, in a 1–0 situation, the best place opened up to Niklas Appelgrenbut Meriläinen’s top save prevented the forward’s opening goal of the season.
