Helsinki IFK’s streak on home ice continued when KooKoo came out with a hard finish to win 4–3 after a confusingly long shootout.
HIFK has now lost three matches in a row at the Nordenskiöldinkatu ice rink.
HIFK’s effective superiority game beat the opening pace. Jori Lehterän led by the number one superiority vaccinated the visiting team right from the first cooldown of the evening in the opening set. Luke Martin shot from the line and Iiro Pakarinen hit the free puck goal in 10:58.
At the beginning of the second period, HIFK took a two-goal lead when Petr Kodytek scored his first goal in HIFK’s shirt.
HIFK’s 20-year-old keeper made a save between the posts Rastislav Elias. The first keeper injured in the previous match Roope Taponen was left out of the lineup.
Elias had to surrender for the first time since midway through the second round when Robert Rooba scored KooKoo’s narrow goal.
In the third set Micke-Max Åsten already shot HIFK into a 3–1 lead with superiority. However, HIFK fooled the guests back into the game.

KooKoo’s Swedish striker became the decider in the long drawn-out shootout Marcus Davidsonwho scored the only goal of the winning shootout in the 19th round.
