The goalie legend does not digest the NHL’s decisions.
Goalkeeper legend Dominic Hašek does not hide his views on the participation of Russian players in NHL matches played in the Czech Republic. Hasek, who is now making a career in politics, demanded tough measures from his home country in September to prevent Russian players from playing.
Initially, it appeared that the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs would not grant visas to the Russian players of the San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators for the season openers in Prague. However, the situation changed at the turn of September-October.
Hašek tweeted angrily towards the NHL on Friday.
“The NHL match is played in Prague. The NHL does not respect the decision of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs [olla päästämättä venäläispelaajia maahan]. It’s not the players fault – don’t boo them. All responsibility for promoting Russian war lies lies with the leadership of the NHL,” Hašek uploaded.
Hašek has previously claimed that the NHL did not respect the position of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but obtained visas for the Russians through another EU country. This claim has not been verified.
“The NHL can bear all responsibility for the decision. They have one day to change their minds. Please share this message.”
When one of Hašek’s followers responded to the puck legend and scolded the NHL commissioner Gary Bettman as a marionette, Hašek answered firmly.
“I do not believe. Of course, he is a ‘subordinate’ to every club owner, but he has a lot of influence and decision-making power.”
One Russian plays in Nashville, Jakov Trenin. Representing San Jose Alexander Barabanov and Yevgeny Sveshnikov.
The 57-year-old Hašek played in the NHL from 1990 to 2008 and is considered one of the best goalkeepers of all time. Hašek represented Buffalo, Detroit and Ottawa. He got to celebrate the NHL championship in 2002 and 2008.
