Ice hockey | Champion Tappara broke his three-game losing streak

Kärppie’s young goalkeepers have made a great start, Leevi Meriläinen made a winning debut.

Three burdened by the losing streak of the match, Tappara finally broke the streak on Saturday, but the 4–1 victory in the ice hockey league over Jukurei did not come easily.

The visitors led the match Otto Mäkinen with a goal in the opening set until the last minute of the second set, but in the end Christian Tanus managed to level.

At the beginning of the third period, Tappara scored two goals, the latter was scored in the match for a total of six minutes, sitting due to violence Brother Matti Savinainen from its standard position.

“That’s my role with superiority, to be in front of the goal. Tuohimaa made a save once with a mattress, but I was able to score from the return puck,” Savinainen summed up.

In another in the set, Savinainen received a 2+2 minute suspension after taking the game Saku Forsblom against, was a fighting partner in the final round Pekka Jormakka. Jormakka and Savinainen exchanged messages in the umens of the Tampere Areena after the match.

“In terms of results, a difficult week was ended with a win. The strength of this team is that we turn the matches into victories”, emphasized Savinainen.

League below, the 20-year-old goalkeepers were counted as possible weak links in the Kärppie’s rock-hard lineup Joel Blomqvist and Leevi Meriläinen.

After four series rounds, both goaltenders have let in an average of one puck per game. On Saturday in Oulu, Meriläinen made its league debut with a 4–1 win against HPK.

“Both have played really well, and it has been easy for the whole team to play. I don’t understand that kind of talk,” the power forward Teemu Turunen comment on preliminary estimates.

Turunen himself has started his career in Kärpi with a point per game pace (2+2). He has formed the most intact chain of Oulu residents together as a center forward Peter Tiivolan and Kasper Björkqvist with.

“We have a good field assembled, and it has been really good to play with them. We have found common ground for that.”

Against his old club HPK, Turunen played strongly and also managed to score in the second period of the match.

According to the league’s statistics, Turunen will receive a gold helmet for the next Kärppie game, which has been worn by a defender so far Tommi Kivistö.

“That helmet doesn’t matter. Someone carries it,” Turunen laughed.

Turku The ball club picked up its third win of the week on Saturday, when the team beat Rauma Luko in their home hall 2–1 in a match that went into overtime.

The winning goal was scored by a defender Teemu Kivihalme in 61.04. This is how TPS cleared the people of Rauma for their crushing loss from a week ago.

“A big and successful face wash after Rauma’s defeat last week. There was still room for improvement in the defense, but overall a really good week and a great eight points”, rejoiced the head coach of TPS Jussi Ahokas.

The pier of the home team’s first chain Anthony Rech took the people of Turku into the lead in the middle of the opening set. The goal was already the fifth hit of the season for the Frenchman.

Lukko already dominated the second set, but it wasn’t until halfway through the final set that the guests managed to get past the TPS keeper Lassi Lehtinen. Defender by Thomas Gregoire a great shot brought the Romanians level.

“It wasn’t a rosy start, and the team warmed up slowly. A tough fight, where we should have started the machine earlier”, lamented Luko’s head coach Marko Virtanen.
