The International Cricket Council (ICC) has changed the rules of the World Test Championship. The point table of ICC Test Championship has been changed due to Corona virus epidemic. The board approved a recommendation to change the terms of the ICC Cricket Committee headed by Anil Kumble. Now the points of the teams will be counted in a new way. Team India is shocked by this decision of ICC. The Indian team has lost the first place in the point table. Now Australia occupies the first number.
This change has happened in the rule
Due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, only half the matches of the World Test Championship have been played so far. It is estimated that about 85 percent of the matches will be done by the end of the competition. According to the changed rules, both the teams will be given equal points after the matches of the competition are not completed. According to the ICC statement, ‘Half the matches of the World Test Championship have been played. Due to the epidemic, six series have to be canceled this season. The rest of the Test series are to be conducted by the end of March next year.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to be held from late March to May. According to the original schedule, each team had to play six series in the World Test Championship. But now only India will be able to meet its quota. After a four-Test series in Australia, the Indian team will play a five-Test series against England. India has played four series so far, out of which it has won three.
Know what will be the effect on Team India
The ICC has now made the percentage of wins, not the point table, the basis of the ranking of the World Championship. Accordingly, the team whose win percentage is higher will increase their chances of going up in the rankings. The ICC gives 120 points for each series. For the four-Test series, 30 points will be given on the win, 15 points on the tie and 10 on the draw. For example, if India won the series 2–0, it would get 80 points. In this way, in the 120-digit series, it will get 66.67 percent PTC.
India played four series before the Corona era where its win percentage was 75 percent, while Australia played three series and during this time Australia’s win percentage was 82.2. Earlier, Team India was at number one with 360 points and Australia had 296 points.
