SAO PAULO (Reuters) – The Ibovespa traded near session lows on Tuesday, reversing previous gains as the main indices on Wall Street lost traction.
Itaú Unibanco and energy companies such as Eletrobras weighed on the index, while Petrobras advanced more than 1% and was the main positive influence, reflecting the rise in oil.
At 13:03 (Brasília time), the Ibovespa was down 0.66% to 108,398 points. The financial volume totaled 11.1 billion reais.
Stocks in the United States and Europe rose sharply in the morning, in an attempt to regain ground after recent consecutive drops for fear of an economic slowdown.
However, they lost strength again, which led the pan-European STOXX 600 index to close stable, practically at the session lows. The S&P 500 in New York was up 0.1% after rising as much as 1.7% earlier.
Locally, where the market continues to expect the presidential elections on Sunday, a greater-than-expected deflation in September brought some additional cheer in the morning, which also saw the release of Copom minutes.
