The iconic voice of Nintendo’s Italian plumber calmed the tension that had started with the announcement of the new film.
After the announcement of the next Super Mario movie, which will have the actor Chris pratt like Mario’s voice, heads immediately turned to their original interpreter, Charles Martinet. To calm the community’s concern, the actor clarified that he does not intend to abandon his role, and plans to “be the voice of Mario until the day he dies.”
If one day I think that I am no longer able to continue, I will tell Nintendo to find someone elseCharles MartinetThe answer, in addition to other interesting facts, was revealed in a recent questions and answers session during Fan Expo Canada. Martinet answered this question very confidently, showing that there is no doubt about the future of his relationship with Nintendo.
However, Martinet added that nothing is 100% guaranteed. “If one day I think that I am no longer able to do it, I will tell Nintendo to find someone elseThis suggests that Mario’s future is in his hands, and the 66-year-old actor would have the first word as soon as something starts to go wrong.
A voice like Charles Martinet’s would certainly be missed if it were to be lacking in the industry. A similar case is presented with the voice of Sonic and his actor Roger craig smith, who initially left his role after more than 10 years of work, but eventually returned to his job a few months later.
Do you know how Charles Martinet ended up being the voice of Mario? During the same question and answer session, the actor admitted that he did not find out about the hearing for that role until very late, and arrived when the auditions were about to end. Without having rehearsed, Martinet began to say italian dishes randomly, and thus managed to be the voice of the best-known face in video games.
