The Pole: “I know of my compatriots’ bond with the Griffin. And I believe that Italian football is the right choice ”
Neustift – Ready for university. To continue studying he will have to wait for the last year of high school and the maturity, for that football the choice has already been made: Genoa faculty, professor Mr. Ballardini. Alekander Buksa is 18 years old, the boy’s face but the physique and attitude are those of the player already on a bright career. The one that has already prophesied to him in Poland, in the wake of great strikers like Lewandovski, Milik and an old Genoa acquaintance like Piatek. So much so that he has one of the most important European agents to assist him: Pini Zahavi, the same as Lewandovski. With Wisla Krakow, the club in which he grew up, it did not end well: the contract renewal did not arrive, so he ended up on the sidelines. Waiting for the great chance, which has red and blue colors.
Why did you choose Genoa?
“I had several offers, that’s true. But I evaluated with great attention and I realized that this club can represent an important step in my career. There are the right structures, a game system suited to my characteristics. And then the club is glorious and full of history. I think I made the right choice, Italian football is the best you could want to grow and become a footballer ”.
What happened with the Wisla?
“Leaving was very hard for me, I started playing there when I was 11 years old. I didn’t renew my contract and I played very little. Again, it was tough. But now I don’t want to think about it anymore, I’m focused on Genoa and on everything I have to do to become a top-level player ».
Speaking of Poles: Lewandovski was close to Genoa and Piatek scored here with an impressive average.
“I followed both of them and I know of their connection with Genoa. I would like to be able to retrace their footsteps but for the moment it is too early, I am very young and I still have to learn everything. Step by step, without haste ”.
Who is helping you in these early days in Italy?
“Certainly Filip Jagiello, he explained to me how it works and then translates the directions to me on the pitch. But I want to learn Italian as soon as possible, I have already started taking lessons. Learning the language is too important ”.
How’s it going with school?
“I am in the last year of high school and at the end of this year I will have the maturity. I will follow the personalized lessons via Skype. Then for sure I want to enroll at university to continue studying, even if I still don’t know which one I will choose. Studying is important and I don’t want to stop ”.
What do you think of Italy as European champion?
“He impressed me, great team. There was a great atmosphere around the national team and I’m proud to have come to play in Italy, it’s the right place for my growth ”.
Your brother Adam now plays in MLS: what advice did he give you?
“We talk every day, we play with the playstation online. He played in Novara, he has more experience than me and he gives me feedback after each match, we compare and talk ”.
