Hyundai has renewed the entire range of its electric car Ioniq 5bringing significant updates to both the design and technology of the powertrain. These improvements aim to optimize the efficiency of the electric crossover, with a drums from the greater capacity, passing from 77.4 kWh to 84.0 kWh. Inside, changes to the central console and new technologies have been introduced, while on the outside you can see the new ones digital rearview mirrors and the bumpers redesigned to improve aerodynamics.
On the outside, the new elegant V-shaped grill and redesigned front and rear bumpers give the Ioniq 5 a stronger presence on the road. The length increases by 20 mm, reaching i 4,655 mmwhile the other external dimensions remain unchanged: width of 1,890 mmheight of 1,605 mm and step of 3,000 mm.
To accentuate dynamism and improve aerodynamic performance, the rear spoiler has been extended by 50 mm and new rims with an updated design, partially faired, have been introduced.
Inside the new Ioniq 5, comfort and practicality have been further improved. The top of central Universal Island now includes physical buttons to manage essential functions such as heated and ventilated front row seats, heated steering wheel and parking assistance.
The wireless charging pad for smartphones has been positioned higher, making it more accessible. The steering wheel features a new design with lights pixels interactiveand the layout of the infotainment and climate controls has been revised for greater ease of use.
Infotainment and ADAS
The new Ioniq 5 is equipped with the renewed infotainment system Hyundai Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) next generation, combined with software updates OTA (Over-The-Air) to ensure an always up-to-date experience. In terms of safety and comfort, functions such as the capacitive steering wheel, the Lane Keeping Assist 2The Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2) and the Forward/Side/Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA-F/S/R)contributing to safer and more comfortable driving.
Other features include theIntelligent Front-lighting System (IFS)the Digital Key 2the Built-in Cam 2 and remote folding of the second row seats. Structural improvements such as the shock absorber system, reinforcements on the rear wheels and on the lower part of the vehicle, and an increased body rigidity contribute to greater stability, agility and noise reduction.
In terms of safety, the bodywork, doors and B-pillar have been reinforced and are present eight airbagsincluding side ones for the second row, for optimal protection in the event of a collision.
Engine, battery and autonomy
The main novelty of the renewed Ioniq 5 is the new one 84.0 kWh battery replacing the previous 77.4 kWh one, promising an increase in autonomy, although the details have not yet been specified. There are no indications of changes for the smaller battery from 58 kWhwhich could therefore remain available for the basic versions.
In fact, Hyundai has not provided information on the engines, but a possible increase in power is hypothesized on all versions, including the rear ones 170 and 225 HP and the full one from 325 HP.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 new N Line setup
The big news of the restyling of the new Ioniq 5 is the introduction of the equipment N Linesportier, which also acts as a bridge between the updated version of the model and the future one Ioniq 5 N, the brand's first high-performance electric vehicle.
The N Line trim level therefore features a front and rear design more aggressivewith distinctive bumpers, side skirts and 20-inch aluminum wheels exclusive N Line to further emphasize its sporty character.
Inside, the passenger compartment is equipped with a metal pedalexclusive N Line steering wheel and dashboard, black headliner, sports seats with N logo, contrasting red stitching and two seat upholstery options.
Price
The price of the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 could be higher than 50,000 euros. The arrival in Italy is expected around mid-2024.
