Hyundai Motor Group announced the opening of a new call at startup, in order to explore new horizons of technological development and in terms of mobility. This is a new phase of its ZER01NE Accelerator program, launched for the second half of 2022. This so-called ‘accelerator’ is an innovation platform which, according to a press release, “fosters collaboration between startups and Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation on various projects, aiming to discover realities of value and explore the possibilities of strategic use of their innovative technologies“.
Startups will be able to apply for one of 20 specific projects created by the internal teams of the Hyundai group, divided into six key areas: energy, mobility, logistics, construction, smart factories and materials. Only registered companies can be taken into consideration, by adequately submitting their application on the official website of the initiative, by next 29 July.
The review and recruitment of candidates for each project – which will directly involve the divisions of the automotive group responsible for technological developments – will culminate in September in the announcement of the selected startups, which will receive a budget for the development of the project and could be evaluated for equity investments.
Since the group introduced ZER01NE Accelerator in 2018, already 125 teams of 11 affiliates of the Korean group and 115 startups have worked together on 97 collaborative projects, leading 54 small companies to receive Hyundai funding.
