He Hurricane John caused a mega sinkhole on federal highway 200 Acapulco-Pinotepa Nacional, in the section of the town of San José de las Palmas in the municipality of Cuautepec, Guerrero.
The Public Security Secretariat of the State of Guerrero confirmed the appearance of the sinkhole.
The circulation was closed due to the risks that exist after the emergence of the sinkhole.
“A record is made sinkhole on the Acapulco-Copala federal highwaynear the town of San José, so our staff proceeded to close vehicular traffic due to the imminent risk that exists in the area,” said the Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection Warrior.
The State Police and Civil Protection are on site to provide assistance to the population.
It is worth mentioning that Civil Protection Warrior warned that the State expects extraordinary rainfall (greater than 250 mm), due to the remnants of Tropical Cyclone John.
Winds with gusts of 50 to 70 km/h and waves of one to three metres on the coasts are also forecast, as well as the possible formation of waterspouts. Heavy rains could cause an increase in the levels of rivers and streams, landslides and flooding in low-lying areas.
