I’m atAt least 88 people have lost their lives in the United Statesand particularly in North Carolina, due to Hurricane Helene. This was reported by the broadcaster NBC News, recalling that Helene made landfall on Thursday night in the Big Bend region of Florida as a category 4 hurricane. The death toll could be even higher, given that dozens of people are missing.
In eastern Tennessee, hit hard by the hurricane, floods engulfed entire neighborhoods. In some of the affected areas, electricity is being restored, but e.gMore than two million people in several states remain without electricity. Rainfall is expected to continue across parts of the central Appalachians today, forecasters say.
