The fuel tax reduction is unfortunately temporary, but the good news is: the reduction will be extended.
We are all having a hard time here in the Netherlands. Everything gets more expensive. Last but not least the gasoline. You are now very happy if you can fill up for €1.90. There was a time when your hair stood on end when you saw such an amount.
Reduced excise duty
Please note: these are still prices with a reduced excise duty. Can you find out how expensive the petrol would have been if the excise tax had not been lowered? However, excise duties are expected to return to their previous level. There was in fact a temporary reduction, until December this year.
Extended
However, we now have good news. The cabinet is really big. The Hague is introducing an extensive package of measures to increase purchasing power. What is especially relevant here on Autoblog: the fuel tax reduction is extended! That includes RTL News heard from insiders from The Hague.
Fuel excise 2023
We can therefore still count on the reduced fuel excise tax in 2023. That is to say: in the first half of 2023. Unfortunately, this only applies until 1 July. Then we will continue as before, with 0.83 cents excise duty. Unless, of course, the reduction is extended again.
Amounts
In case you have forgotten the amounts involved: a reduction of 17.3 cents per liter applies to petrol. The excise duty on diesel has been reduced by 11.1 cents and the excise duty on LPG by 4.1 cents. Despite the reduction, fuel excise duties in the Netherlands are still higher than anywhere else. But at least it’s something.
Addition
In other news: the tax rate of the first bracket is also going down. This means that you also pay less addition next year. Provided you are in the first disc of course. That kite will therefore not apply to all business lease drivers.
