Szijjarto: Politicians Thinking About Peace in Ukraine Are Under Attack
Politicians and countries that are willing to work to achieve peace in Ukraine are being attacked. This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto during his speech in New York at the Future Summit, writes TASS.
“European politicians usually advocate diplomacy and peaceful resolution of wars if they occur far from Europe. But today, unfortunately, there is a conflict in Europe, and those who advocate peace are immediately branded and attacked,” he lamented.
Last week, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini expressed a unified position that the conflict in Ukraine must be stopped urgently. As specified, the politicians first discussed bilateral relations between Rome and Budapest, as well as issues related to the balance of power in the European Union.
Earlier, political scientist and independent researcher from Sweden Greg Simons said that Viktor Orban’s peace initiative on the conflict in Ukraine has little chance of success due to the dependent position of the European Union on the United States. At the same time, the expert noted that the Hungarian leader’s peace plan is agreed with, in particular, by Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico.
