A new entrepreneur from Vantaa is opening a self-service flea market in a retail space that has previously housed a bookstore and post office and most recently a vaccination point.

In Kivistö, Vantaa resident Laura Nikitin likes to visit flea markets. He has noticed that many others do the same today and flea marketers often have to queue up.
As there are almost no flea markets in Länsi-Vantaa and none in Martinlaakso, for example, Nikitin decided to set up a self-service flea market in Martinlaakso. It will open on Friday, January 7th.
“I’ve been thinking about setting up my own flea market for about a year. When the Martinlaakso shopping center had a suitable retail space available, I made a decision, ”says Nikitin.
Abundant The 200-square-meter retail space used to be a bookstore and post office, and most recently a vaccination point.
The decision is great because Nikitin has not been an entrepreneur before. He has work experience in several clothing stores, and he has worked in HOK-Elanto stores, such as Sokos in the center of Helsinki, as a clothing seller.
The new entrepreneur knows Vantaa, as he is a barefoot Vantaa resident who grew up in Vapala.
There will initially be 70 outlets for the self-service flea market, later possibly more. Nikitin opened a Facebook site for the flea market and announced that tables could already be reserved.
“After the announcement, email and phone have exploded with messages.”
Nikitin no doubt starting to become an entrepreneur during Korona.
“Because of the corona, many can be out of work and have time to go through the closets at home. On the other hand, you can go shopping for clothes at the flea market. ”
At the self-service flea market, everyone prizes the clothes and displays them themselves. However, you can also buy a service from Nikitin, in which case he will pricing and displaying clothing on behalf of the customer.
A familiar rule applies to his flea market:
“Only bring clothes in good condition for sale.”
