In a real Finn Six cars have been stolen in the city of Parain in the last two weeks or so. What makes the crimes exceptional is that car thefts are extremely rare in the city.
For example, there were six car thefts in Paraini last year. In the years 2018-2020, a total of only six car thefts were also reported in the city.
The idyll of the small town is told by the fact that all the cars stolen now were taken from the yards of the houses unlocked. The ignition keys were inside the cars.
On Monday, Southwestern Finland’s police released a press release in which it asked citizens for help in unraveling the crime scene. Crime Commissioner Riikka Laaksonen says that all the lost spending games have since been found.
“Based on current information, they have mostly been driven around.”
According to Laaksonen, all the thefts took place on the main island of Parainte, about ten kilometers from the city center.
On Monday, the police also released a surveillance camera image of a young man dressed in summer clothes. Police are hoping someone recognizes him. Laaksonen does not directly say whether the police suspect the man of being a car thief and whether he is possibly behind all the thefts.
“There is reason to suspect that he is involved in the case,” the crime commissioner formulates.
According to Laaksonen, the investigation of the case is still at the beginning. It has already aroused concern and attention in the municipality of more than 15,000 inhabitants.
“I know that this has been discussed on social media forums,” Laaksonen states.
“This would not be rare in the center of Turku, but it is here. In the archipelago municipalities, it is generally felt that things are generally very safe.”
